"
At 35 Km South West of Jodhpur a fortress still belonging to Jodhpur
Maharajah cousin's abandoned for more than 100 years, its decoration
has been rethinked with a very good taste, we even can say an exceptional
taste. The owner made mainly work the artisans from his village.
Difficult to do better. Have a drink at sunset in the inner courtyard,
watching at the red sandstones facades is a great unforgettable
moment. The best rooms are around the patio. Restaurant at the same
level than the rest. Its worth the detour. Reservation highly recommended."

Visitors
to India can now rub shoulders with royalty in a converted fortress
hideway. Fort Chanwa in Luni, near Jodhpur is owned by Maharaj Dalip
Singh - the 24th generation of a royal family which founded Jodhpur
in the 15 century. Maharaj Dalip Singh still lives in the stunning
red sandstone property, but recently opened it up to visitors.
Radhika Shastry, manager of RCI's Indian operations, said :"We
make a conscious effort to affiliate resorts which offer a truly
unique holiday experience and attract more international exchange
guests to India. Not only is the resort of excellent quality - guests
will also be living with royalty on the premises."
The fort has 45 authentically-renovated rooms and the conversion
was approved by the Indian Government, which ensued the building
kept all its original features - including myriad courtyard, towers, waterwheels
and stairways to 'secret' pavilions. A series of morden additions
have also been made to the building, such as air-conditioned rooms,
